PREGNANCY | WHAT TO PACK FOR HOSPITAL (DELIVERY)

PREGNANCY | WHAT TO PACK FOR HOSPITAL (DELIVERY)

What you pack totally depends on each woman. The basic things are listed here, but remember you should bring with you whatever you feel you may need. Better to have it with you than not. And most hospitals have concierge, so you dont need to worry about carrying all your bag(s) out. Till you reach home that is, but hubby can do that while you tend to your new baby!

You will need at least 2 bags. One for you, one for baby and one for hubby, unless you have a good sized bag for you and your husband, to fit everything you need in. I took with me a large sized bag, like the ones you take as carry-on baggage on a plane. And I could fit in mine and hubby things in just fine.

MAMA'S BAG

1. Insurance card for hospital and also passport for you and your husband, for the registering of new birth papers.

2. Slippers/Socks - depending on what you prefer. The hospital will provide slippers anyway, because you might have a bit of walking to do during labour

3. Bra's - Maternity bra's are probably best, but it really depends on what you will feel comfortable in. I bought a ton of maternity bra's and hardly used them because I preferred my other bra's more. But, you should definitely have a couple with you. But be careful from bra's with underwire, only because they can be uncomfortable and the wire may dig into you and cause your milk ducts to get blocked, which will be soooo painful.

4. Nursing pads - You will definitely need these. You will leak soooo much in those first few days and weeks.

5. Small wash bag for bathroom - Hairbrush, Toothbrush, toothpaste, mouth wash, lip balm, make-up (I prefer no makeup when im with the baby because you will just want to hold your baby so much, and its such a natural moment, so its nice to embrace that) otherwise, make-up is great for any family pics or when you will leave the hospital. Also, shampoo, conditioner, hairdryer, body lotion, hand cream, lens case and solution (if you wear lenses), light body mist, deodorant, face wash, face wipes and hair elastics to tie your hair up.

6. Phone and charger

7. Underwear and heavy flow sanitary pads. The hospital will have all disposable underwear and pads for you. But i always bring my own, because the hospital underwear is scary ugly :)

8. Your own night gown and night wear. After delivery you will love to get out of the ugly hospital gown and be super comfy.

9. Towel. The hospital will provide you, but I always take my own anyway.

10. Breastfeeding pillow

HUSBAND'S BAG

1. Night wear/underwear/change of clothes

2. Wash bag - Toothbrush, deodorant, perfume and whatever your husband likes to use.

BABY'S BAG

1. Clothes - Age preemie - new born age. You can probably tell from your ultrasounds how big your baby will be, but better to have a few different sizes, just in case.

2. New born hat and mittens/socks/booties

3. Wrapping blanket/other blankets

4. Nappies - new born size (Hospital will also provide)

5. Cotton balls - for cleaning baby. I never used wipes for new born, but you can use them if you like, but choose the sensitive type if you do (Hospital will provide baby wipes)

6. Baby shampoo/body wash/baby oil - I love Mustela, But the hospital will provide you also).

7. Baby towels

These are just the things I took with me and I didnt feel I left anything behind. Still depends up to you what comforts you may need. Hope this helps!
