PREGNANCY | WHICH HOSPITAL TO DELIVER YOUR BABY IN?
PREGNANCY | WHICH HOSPITAL TO DELIVER YOUR BABY IN?
I always get asked what hopital i delivered my babies in, and it was always a question I asked other mama's before my 1st child.
The answer to this question really does depend solely on you! Yes, you are the mother and wherever you feel comfortable and happy is the place you should choose. So, those 9months you will probably spend looking for the best doctors, facilities and atmosphere. Its usually a gut feeling when you see a doctor and hospital, if the place is right for you or not, so go where you feel happiest.
I will share with you my experience, with the 2 hospitals i used. For my first son, I saw a British doctor at American Hospital in Dubai. The pregnancy was fairly smooth and my doctor was helpful and informative. The facilities at the hospital were OK. Nothing amazing, but I felt some areas of the hospital were very old and needed updating. The staff were OK too. Overall my experience at American Hospital was OK. I felt a few things could have been done but were not, for example, breastfeeding consultation and space in the rooms, for husbands. I didnt feel like the hospital made me feel as comfortable and happy as they could have done so, especially being a first time mother.
I chose City Hospital (Mediclinic) in Dubai for my 2nd son. I wasn't so keen on going back to American Hospital, so i started seeing an American doctor at City Hospital. Everything was very smooth and my doctor was very caring and involved. The one thing that I loved about City Hospital were the midwives. They knew exactly what they were doing and did everything possible to get me through labour and delivery. Overall the staff and whole experience was lovely. The only thing I didnt like was that the rooms didnt have sun-block, so the sunlight was always shining in. But they had a bed in there for husband. They also had a lovely lactation consultant, who came to see all mothers to make sure they were breastfeeding and smooth out any problems they maybe facing, Because as we all know, breastfeeding is hard and we all need a bit of a push at the start, to get things moving.
I did also see briefly a doctor at Saudi German hospital also in Dubai, but i stopped, and i cant remember exactly why, sorry, blame the baby brain!!
Both my experiences were in Dubai, and now i will inshallah look in Abu Dhabi, for all my Abu Dhabi mama's.
