GLAM | STAYING GLAM WHILST BEING A MOTHER

Ok, so you became a mama!! Then you realised how much your life has changed. Changed in the sense, your priority is no longer yourself, and is your child. But, once you get used to having a baby in your arms, you need to turn to yourself once again. As being the best mother you can be, heavily relies on your own happiness and disposition. So, basically, never forget yourself! For me happiness comes from many things in my life and one thing that definitely improves my mood is my appearance. If I look good, I will feel good. Its not about going all out, and being made up and wearing fancy clothes everyday, its actually in the small things you do that adds to your overall glam. Here are a few tips that you can try, and from that, build it up!

1. Be an earlybird. It might sound like an effort, but setting your alarm just 20 minutes earlier so you have time to shower and put on make-up, can make such a difference to how you feel for the rest of the day. And if you feel good, you look good and radiant yummy-mummy confidence.

2. The little things. Even a touch of bright lipstick, a spray of perfume or a pair of high heels can make a big difference.

3. A great cut. Next time you are at the hairdresser, ask for a low-fuss cut that you can simply wash, quickly blowdry and be ready for the day.

Or, buy Sleep-in Rollers. Sleep in them and wake up with bouncy curls with loads of volume. Instant glam!!

4. Supermarket beauty buys. You don't have to buy your cosmetics from the beauty counters all the time. In fact, you can get some really fantastic products from the beauty aisle at your supermarket. Look for bargains and special offers. Your favourite brands are often cheaper here too, like L'Oreal, Revlon and Maybelline.

5. A capsule wardrobe. Take half an hour on a weekend to organise your wardrobe. Sort through your clothes so you have school-run clothes, coffee date outfits and those special date-night dresses. This makes savvy, stylish dressing super easy.

6. Ignore magazines. Don't compare yourself to celebrity yummy mummies. They have help - lots of help! For you, being a yummy mummy should be about doing things that make you feel yummy, because when you feel good you look good.

7. Time out. Whether it's one evening a week or a regular date with a girlfriend, take time out for yourself. Recharge your batteries with a sauna and a swim, have a long bath, or catch up on girly gossip while power-walking with a friend.

8. Stay healthy. It's so easy to grab fast food and sugary treats when you're a busy mum, but junk food is detrimental to your health and wellbeing. Keep the fridge and pantry stocked with fresh and dried fruits, rice crackers, raw nuts and low fat cheese. Pop a few snacks in your bag when you leave the house so you never have to buy fast food if you're hungry.

9. Date night. Getting dressed up for date night with your husband is a great way to feel glamorous, feminine and 'yummy'. Put on your favourite dress and heels and forget the kids for a couple of hours.

10. Do it with friends. It's always easier with friends, so get them on board with your quest to be a yummy mummy. Share ideas, products, go out for lunch or coffee, enjoy each other's company and feel good together. A happy social life and family life makes you glow from the inside out.
